AAA OBSERVING AT ANTHONY WAYNE RECREATIONAL AREA, BEAR MOUNTAIN

The Amateur Astronomers Association no longer has scheduled observing sessions at the Anthony Wayne Recreational Area.  We are in the process of arranging observing sessions at a darker location in the Catskills.

The Rockland Astronomy Club does host sessions at this location which are open to the public.  See the table below.

Directions (by car):

From the George Washington Bridge, get on the Palisades Parkway heading north.  Proceed about 40 miles.

For Anthony Wayne Recreational Area (AW), get off at exit 17 and proceed to the recreational area.

For Silvermine Lake (SM), get off at exit 18 for Route 6 (exit is on the left).  You will come to a traffic circle.  Proceed about three-quarters of the way around the circle onto Seven Lakes Drive heading south.  Go just over one mile on the drive, looking for a clearing on the left and a sign for Silvermine Lake.  Turn into the clearing and park.
