AAA OBSERVING AT NORTH-SOUTH LAKE
The Amateur Astronomers Association has an agreement with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation that allows us to have observing sessions at North-South Lake, located in Haines Falls, New York, in the Catskill Mountains. This is an exceptionally dark location for deep-sky observing.
Our agreement allows only four cars for each observing session. Contact the event chair (below) to reserve a spot. You will either be given the combination to unlock a park gate or arrange to meet someone who has the combination.

Directions to North-South Lake from New York City:
Take the New York State Thruway (Interstate Route 87) to Exit 20 (Saugerties). Get on New York State Route 32 North. After about 6 miles bear left onto Route 32A West, which merges into Route 23A. Enter the village of Haines Falls. Make the first right onto County Route 18. Take 18 to where it ends, at the park entrance. Bear right. There should be a gate with a combination lock. You should know the combination or have arranged to meet someone who does (see above). BE SURE TO CLOSE THE GATE AFTER YOU ENTER OR LEAVE. Proceed until the road ends, at a parking area.
