SEMINAR ON RECENT ADVANCES IN ASTRONOMY

The Recent Advances in Astronomy Seminar is a discussion of the latest astronomical news. The main topics are late-breaking events taken from online sources, newspaper articles, and weekly periodicals like Science News. Monthly magazines such as Sky & Telescope, Astronomy, and Scientific American are brought in by members. As students of astronomy, we learn and ask questions from basic through more advanced subjects - from stars, planets, astrophysics and cosmology. Debates on the significance and meaning of recent developments are common. The sessions are free to members.

The seminar meets at AAA headquarters at 120 Warren Street in lower Manhattan on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (although occasionally it is moved to another Thursday).  Before the seminar we will get together for a bite to eat at 5:15 PM at the nearby Gee Whiz Diner at the corner of Warren Street and Greenwich Street.  In the past we have met at New York University, and may again do so in the future.
