What’s Up in the Sky? July 2025

July’s Evening Planets:

Find Mercury in Cancer the Crab until around 10 PM in the first half of the month. Mars will be moving between Leo the Lion and Virgo the Maiden throughout the month, until around 11 PM, and will be setting earlier each night. Find Saturn is in Pisces, the Fish, as of midnight and rising earlier every night until 10 by the end of the month. Neptune in Pisces the Fish as of midnight and rising earlier every night until 10 PM by the end of July. Dwarf Pluto will be Sagittarius the Archer all night.

July’s Evening Stars:

Spot the Summer Triangle of Vega in Lyra the Harp, Deneb in Cygnus the Swan, and Altair in Aquila the Eagle all night. See Spica in Virgo the Virgin, Antares in Scorpius the Scorpion, and Arcturus in Boötes the Herdsman. Also find the stars of constellations Cassiopeia, Cepheus, Pegasus, Draco, Virgo, Sagittarius, Libra, Leo, Hercules, Ophiuchus, Ursa Major, and Ursa Minor (the Big and Little Dippers).

July’s Morning Planets:

Bright Venus will be visible starting at 3 AM, moving between Taurus the Bull and Gemini the Twins throughout the month. Jupiter will be in Pisces, the Fish, as of 4 AM in the second half of the month.

Find Saturn and Neptune in Pisces the Fish, and Uranus in Taurus the Bull, lingering in the sky until sunrise.
