Join us for our annual Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) lecture, presented by Dr. Jerry Bonnell. He and Robert Nemiroff have written, coordinated, and edited NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) since 1995. The APOD archive contains the largest collection of annotated astronomical images on the internet.
About Dr. Jerry Bonnell received a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1987. In 1988, he came to NASA/ Goddard Space Flight Center and enjoyed working on the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) and International Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) projects. Since 1992 he has been a member of the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory (CGRO) Science Support Center (SSC) staff in the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics (LHEA). Lately, his research efforts have involved multiwavelength studies of gamma-ray selected blazars and studies of the time histories and spectral evolution of cosmic gamma-ray bursts.
