All About Messier Marathons (2025)

April 15 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT

All About Messier Marathons.

  A Free Presentation, Tuesday, April 15, 2025,
7 – 8:30 PM given via Zoom.

There are 110 Messier Objects sprinkled in our galaxy. Some are other galaxies beyond it. These are objects amateur astronomers enjoy searching for and viewing, much like birders enjoy listing species they see. There is a time each year when it’s possible to view all 110 in one night. This is a Messier Marathon. This talk gives the details for participating in such a marathon, and includes Messier images.

It will be given by Astronomer Dean Regas of Cincinnati who gives public lectures and hosts an astronomy podcast. He’ll show how you can find them all (well, at least a lot of them). He’ll be assisted by Vannessa Gressieux from NoirLab at Kitt Peak and the Central Florida Astronomical Society and astrophotographer Nick Wightman.

Prof. Regas has reached out to the AAA inviting our members to this coming talk for free.

There will be no class registration given the short time. Instead, below is a Zoom link leading directly into his webinar this Tuesday, April 15 at 7 PM ET. If you have the time and interest you may find this enlightening and enjoyable.

Feel free to share this. If you can’t attend but want access to the recorded session, send an email to [email protected]
