This eighth annual Tanabata Festival is presented by the Amateur Astronomers Association (AAA) with the Japanese and Japanese-American communities in New York. This traditional Japanese summer festival is based on a legend of star-crossed lovers.
AAA members will provide telescopes to show the public the night sky and relay the folk tale of the stars Altair and Vega.
UPDATE: Our normal Cark Schurz Park observing night is now merged with this festival! https://aaa.org/event/carl-schurz-2024-07-12/2024-07-12/
