Message from AAA’s President

A Happy June to One and All.

I am very pleased to announce that through the efforts of our many volunteers, spearheaded by none other than our illustrious Executive Vice President, Bart Fried, AAA is now in the throes of securing NYC’s first-ever fully open to the public observatory. It is shocking to think that NYC has been without one for 200 years, but we are moving swiftly to rectify that situation. Thanks to Bart, Kat, and everyone else who has played a role in this endeavor. Securing an observatory truly plays to AAA’s main objective: to serve the public with the means, access, and education of all things Astronomy.

If you happen to find a bit more than lint in your pockets, securing the observatory does have a not insignificant cost related to it, and all donations would be appreciated. You can donate at our dedicated Observatory page, here: aaa.org/observatory/

Thank you again to everyone involved, and all of those who volunteer in any capacity to further the cause of spreading the love and appreciation of science.

In news related to the love of science, your beloved AAA is officially 95 years young. Truly a great accomplishment, and as such, we hope that all of you can come celebrate with us on June 9, 2022 at our Annual Meeting. This is a Members Only event so if your membership has lapsed, or you have been considering joining (or rejoining) AAA, now is the time do so! Learn more, and register here: aaa.org/event/2022-aaa-annual-meeting/

In addition, to the above, of course AAA is moving along with all our regularly scheduled events of observing, astrophotography meetups, classes, lectures (resuming in the Fall), and providing a community for all those with an open mind and deep curiosity for the cosmos. Be sure to check out aaa.org to see everything that we offer.

With so much happening, we are always looking for new volunteers to help with all different areas of the Association. Feel free to email myself, or Kat, our new Vice President of Operations, with any questions or suggestions.

I hope to see you all on June 9th.

Brian Berg, President
